Community Engagement Event Held in Rye
Martello Developments were delighted to welcome local residents to a drop-in session held at The Winery, Bridgepoint on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday 12th February. The event was very well attended and gave residents the opportunity to take a look at Martello’s proposals, to ask questions of the project team and to provide feedback.

The event was located at this interesting venue and free tea and coffee was provided to attendees. Set up in exhibition format there were four separate areas to give residents the opportunity to look at the details of the proposals for each site as well as the facility to indicate support or opposition to each site.

Members of the project team, including the Planning Consultants and Architects, were on hand to answer any detailed queries and residents took full advantage to obtain more information. Attendees included the District Ward Councillor; Simon McGurk, Rye Town Mayor; Cllr Andy Stuart and his Deputy Cllr Chris Hoggart, the Editor of Rye News; James Stewart and the Chair of the Rye Chamber of Commerce; Jane Brook.
Feedback forms were completed by many residents on the day and a QR code was provided for those who wanted to go away and have a think about what they had seen before providing their feedback. A steady stream of feedback has continued to come in after the event.

All feedback will be fed back to the project team and will form part of the evidence base for the community engagement that has taken place when the planning applications are submitted. Martello will now work with Rother District Council to shape the proposals and it is anticipated that applications will be submitted around May/June time. Further community engagement will be undertaken in the meantime.
