The Sites and the Vision
Martello are proposing to deliver high-quality housing across four sites - Rock Channel, the former Freda Gardham School, Harbour Road and Tilling Green. Three of these sites have been allocated for new homes by Rye Town Council through their Neighbourhood Plan, and will meet the needs of the local community in providing much-needed housing in the town. These proposals have been worked up in partnership with local councillors and other community representatives.
These plans will emerge through listening to, engaging with and learning from you. We want to have a conversation with you. We encourage you to share your thoughts as we shape these plans together.
These proposals include the provision of much needed affordable housing and Martello already has a track record of providing affordable housing.
With the support of Kent County Council the Appledore scheme included 4 affordable 3 Bedroom Houses as well a detached community home to be retained by the Parish Council to be let at a low rent to a local family in need.
Housing that creates benefits for Rye through Martello’s broader vision for a diverse and inclusive community.
Each of the four sites has its own distinct design and purpose supporting Martello’s respect for the unique character of the local area.
Martello’s aspiration to affordable housing also aims to support those in need of cost-effective housing options, making it easier for local people to stay in Rye.
We are all in this together
New developments can generate mixed opinions. While there may be elements you love and others you feel more reserved about, we believe the plans, viewed as a whole, offer Rye an exciting opportunity.
By spreading the development across four thoughtfully chosen sites, each with its own unique offering, we aim to address a variety of needs and aspirations in the community. Your feedback is invaluable as we will work together to shape a future for Rye.
